From Good to Outstanding: BeyondAutism’s Tram House School achieves Ofsted’s top rating across all areas

25th September 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

London, 25 September, 2025 – BeyondAutism’s Tram House School in Wandsworth has been rated Outstanding in every category by Ofsted, just three years after being judged Good.

Following the July 2025 inspection, Ofsted described Tram House School and Sixth Form as “an exceptional calm and caring place to learn” where pupils “make excellent progress towards their personal targets and achieve many external qualifications.”

This recognition comes as the Education Committee’s Solving the SEND Crisis report calls for clearer accountability, inclusion embedded in inspections, and better preparation for adulthood. Tram House demonstrates how these recommendations can translate into practice.

How the school improved
Since its 2022 Good rating, Tram House School has:

  • Enhanced its personalised curriculum to meet every pupil’s unique needs more effectively.
  • Strengthened independence and employability programmes, preparing pupils for adulthood through travel training and meaningful work experience.
  • Invested in professional development for staff, ensuring expertise remains sector-leading.
  • Built deeper family partnerships to support learning and personal growth beyond the classroom.

Highlights from Ofsted’s 2025 report

  • Outstanding in quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and Sixth Form provision.
  • Pupils achieve academically and socially, with strong preparation for life after school.
  • A warm, caring, and expertly staffed environment.

Corey Bulmer, Interim Head of Tram House School, and Jordana Smallwood, Head of Tram House Sixth Form, said:
“Moving from Good to Outstanding in just three years is a reflection of our pupils’ determination, our staff’s expertise, and the shared ambition of our school community. It has taken all of us, all of the time: learning from the past, working together in the present, and keeping our focus on the future our pupils deserve. This achievement belongs to everyone who walks through our doors.”

BeyondAutism CEO, Tracie Coultas-Pitman, said:
“At a time when the SEND system is under intense scrutiny, Tram House School and Sixth Form show what’s possible. With high expectations, deep care, and expertise, pupils are not only learning, they are preparing for adulthood with independence and confidence. This is what inclusive autism education looks like in practice.”
