This CPD-certified online course offers a comprehensive introduction to Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Designed for educational professionals and parents, it supports those working with pupils who are currently experiencing—or at risk of—school avoidance.

The course provides a strong foundation to understand EBSA, including key contributing factors and the wider context in which it occurs. You’ll also explore practical, person-centred strategies to support pupils and promote positive engagement with education.

The course is self-paced and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

Have questions before you begin? Please get in touch.

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Understand what EBSA is and the impact it has on pupils.
  • Have explored early indicators and risk factors that lead to EBSA.
  • Be able to identify reasons for EBSA.
  • Have learnt various strategies to implement throughout the process of getting a learner back into full-time education.
