The purpose the Giving Back Club is to support young people with a learning disability or autism to ‘give something back to their communities’.
The young people at the club will undertake volunteering and work experience placements, support local campaigns, and help people in communities who need support of some kind. The aim of the project is increase the skills and experiences of the young people, and support them to work in a team to plan club activities and events which benefit others.
The club also provides fun activities which encourages a healthy lifestyle and develops their independent living skills. Activities at the club include training in food hygiene and learning how to keep safe in the community. Sports and leisure activities are also on offer. The key is that the young people at the club have a say about which activities are provided during club sessions and are involved as possible to organise them.
