Sheffield Mencap & Gateway

The Sheffield Mencap and Gateway Carers Service supports unpaid/family carers of somebody with autism or a learning disability. Their friendly, caring team will make sure that they provide help, advice and practical support that is right for you and your family.

They work 1-2-1 with carers and families to provide the personalised support needed. This may include planning for the future, life after caring, advice on benefits, arranging respite and emotional support.

They also run groups to offer peer support and improve the wellbeing of carers, alongside workshops on ‘Planning for the Future’, ‘The Mental Capacity Act’, ‘Wills and Trusts’ and ‘Health Passports’.
