Sheffield Adult Autism and Neurodevelopmental Service (SAANS)

Sheffield Adult Autism and Neurodevelopmental Service (SAANS) offers assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated neurodevelopmental conditions. SAANS is also able to offer ongoing support around communication and interaction, occupation and activities, sensory processing and a range of psychological therapies. SAANS is also able to offer support in the form of groups e.g.to help deal with a new diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. SAANS accepts referrals for adults (over 16) from any discipline within primary or secondary care. Self referrals are not accepted. SAANS is also able to offer training on Autism Spectrum Disorder and related conditions to other services and organisations. Depending on the type of organisation there may be a cost to this. In addition to the above service for people living in Sheffield, SAANS offers a national service for assessment and diagnosis, follow-up support and specialist counselling. The national service is subject to funding agreement from the local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
