Christ Church Primary School is a Church of England school with Academy status. In addition to seven mainstream classes, a special Centre has been set up by the Local Authority to cater for 10 children who have severe Communication and Interaction difficulties, including ASD. These children spend part of the day in the Centre to receive specialist teaching and part of their day in their mainstream classes with support. The Centre is staffed by a full time specialist teacher, three specialist teaching assistants and a part time speech and language therapist. Christ Church Primary School is totally inclusive and welcomes all children. Where a child has a recognised special need or disability, the school will make reasonable adjustments to meet those needs to ensure the child thrives in the mainstream setting. The School is fully accessible and whilst supporting the children will also encourage independence skills.
