Merton Mencap – Buddies Going Out Club

The Buddies Going Out Club is for young people aged 16 to 25 and runs on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm term time only. It provides an opportunity for young people with a learning disability to get together and take part in activities which promote health, wellbeing and their inclusion in the community. The activities at the club are led by the young people themselves. The young people contribute to the planning, organising and evaluation of the club activities.

Many young people with a learning disability face barriers in accessing mainstream activities and have fewer opportunities to enjoy themselves with friends away from their family carers. This project helps young people develop social and life skills and pursue their own interests and hobbies.
