You’ll work closely with colleagues across the team and build positive relationships with the young adults you support. We’re looking for someone who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure and is committed to helping young adults develop skills at their own pace.

Job Purpose

This role supports an autistic young adult in our Post-19 service and in the local community. Working as part of a team of Teaching and Learning Mentors, you will provide tailored support using behaviour analysis teaching methods to help an autistic young adult with associated learning needs access learning and develop new skills.

You will work alongside the Class Lead, Behaviour Analysts and Advanced Skills Practitioners to help ensure each day is safe, purposeful and engaging. Following the principles of behaviour analysis, you will support learning in ways that recognise individual strengths, needs and pace of progress. Training in applying behaviour analysis within an adult setting will be provided. Our approach starts with understanding behaviour as communication and working alongside young adults to develop skills that support greater independence and participation in everyday life.

You will need

  • An interest in working with autistic young adults and people with additional learning needs.
  • A-level qualifications or a recognised childcare qualification.
  • Emotional and physical resilience to meet the demands of the role.
  • Experience of supporting children and/or adults with additional needs (desirable).
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Location: Wandsworth, London

Salary: £22,222 per annum during the probationary period, £23,108 per annum upon successful completion of probation and confirmation in post, £24,032 per annum subject to satisfactory performance and a successful annual appraisal, in line with the school’s appraisal cycle (September to August)
