Senior Teacher

Full time, permanent

We are recruiting for two Senior Teacher positions: one across Tram House School and Tram House Sixth Form, and one at BeyondAutism Post-19.

As Senior Teacher, you will shape teaching standards, curriculum planning and pastoral practice across BeyondAutism. You will work with Class Leads, Teachers, Behaviour Analysts, Therapists and senior colleagues to make sure our teaching is consistent, purposeful and responsive to each learner. Some parts of the role are complex and demanding. You will have the authority, support and professional relationships needed to lead them well.

Job Purpose

This role holds strategic and operational responsibility for the quality of teaching, curriculum and pastoral care at their specific secondary, sixth form or post-19 provision.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead lesson standards, schemes of work and whole-school timetabling. You will oversee Annual Reviews, learner progress information and statutory records, and contribute to the safeguarding team as attendance champion. You will also supervise, coach and train teaching colleagues.

You will work closely with the wider team to support autistic children and young adults through individualised, evidence-based education that recognises behaviour as communication and promotes choice, independence and participation.

You will need

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS).
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Substantial teaching experience with autistic children and young people with complex needs.
  • Experience of leading curriculum development, schemes of work and timetabling across a school or education provision.
  • Experience of improving teaching through observation, constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Experience of education, health and care plan processes, Annual Reviews and working with local authorities.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding practice, statutory responsibilities and current SEND and education legislation.
  • The ability to lead colleagues, manage a complex workload and build effective relationships with families and multi-agency partners.
