Empowering People, Launching lives

Specialist Vocational Advisor

3-year Fixed Term Contract

This is a deeply rewarding opportunity

Young people with autism experience huge challenges in attaining employment that matches their aspirations, capabilities and talents.  They have the lowest rate of employment compared to peers with other types of disabilities.  You could be the pivotal person helping change this.

The new role of Specialist Vocational Advisor will help shape the design of our support offer for atudents with autism by designing individual tailored packages of support so they have the necessary skills and confidence to secure and sustain employment. Furthermore, the role will provide coaching and mentoring to students in the early stages of their careers as well as advising employers on the design of suitable opportunities. You will lead the development of leading-edge policies, toolkits and resources to support these goals.  Most importantly you will be helping to change the lives of young adults who are setting out on the next stage of their life.  You will report to the Head of Research and Learning.

About You

Degree educated with at least four years’ experience in vocational guidance for people with a disability and a proven track record of securing employment opportunities for a wide range of individuals. Ideally you will have a Vocational Rehabilitation, Careers Guidance or Careers Coaching qualification.  Experience of working in a special needs educational setting would be helpful. You will join a supportive staff team where teamwork, flexibility and a positive attitude are essential attributes.

BeyondAutism is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.  An enhanced disclosure will be conducted for the successful applicant.
