Chair of Governors
Part-time volunteer role
BeyondAutism is a charity which runs Park House School and Tram House School, independent special schools based in Wandsworth, providing education for pupils with autism aged 4-19. We are seeking a Chair of Governors to lead and develop the single Governing Body that has oversight of both schools. The ideal candidate will have an educational background including senior leadership, board and governing experience. Experience of managing in a special needs school setting would also be desirable. Candidates should also have a sound understanding of autism and an empathy with the families the charity supports.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Work with the Heads of School to promote and maintain high standards of educational achievement
- Ensure that the Governing Body sets a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction for the schools
- Hold the Heads of School to account for the educational performance of the schools and its pupils
- Ensure effective use of the schools’ resources.
