Russell – Post-19 Deputy Head
I first found out about ABA while working at a camp in the U.S. for children with emotional and behavioural disorders. After university I moved to London to come and work at BeyondAutism and have since pursued a career in ABA with the organisation.
I started working at the secondary school and am now working as the Deputy Head at Post-19. Prior to this I was an ABA Supervisor and obtained my BCBA. On a typical day I visit one of the three Post-19 hubs. While there, I respond to any safeguarding concerns, write reports, have lot of liaison with external stakeholders.
My favourite part of the job is seeing the students progress on their individual targets over time. It is wonderful to see each of the students accessing their own individualised timetable and getting out into the community.
Having worked with some of the students for several years it’s great to see their journey from the classroom to living in their own flat and gaining work experience. It’s such a privilege, it’s why we do what we do.
